Tented Guest Camp

Goal: Five tents this year

The first canvas dome tent of the guest camp, with its porch awning, standing on a raised concrete platform on posts in a clearing among rubber trees; a man walks past on the left

On the mission land beside the soccer field, Philip and the Moken young men have started building a tented guest camp. Each site is a raised concrete platform on posts, carrying a canvas dome tent with a covered porch, two beds and a fan. The first platform was poured on 6 September 2026, and on 10 September the first tent went up and was furnished.

Like the water-and-ice factory, the camp is a tentmaker enterprise: guests who stay bring in income that keeps the work self-sustaining, and the building and running of the camp gives the young men work. The goal for this year is five tents.

Still to come are an ablution block, a store-room and reception, and the power and water reticulation for the camp.

If you would like to help put up a tent, tell us through the support page, mention the reference Tente, and we'll reply personally with the details, including the current cost breakdown.

Four people starting a tent platform on cleared ground: black steel beams resting on small concrete footings, with the fenced soccer field on the slope behind
Two workers standing among the bare steel beams of a platform frame, beside a platform already finished with a smooth pale deck on concrete posts; a generator and welding cables lie in the foreground
Wud and the others poured the rest of the cement: a young man crouches by a bucket smoothing the wet surface of the raised platform while two others look on, the tent canvas spread out on the grass in front
The first canvas tent on its raised concrete platform seen from the side, porch awning out, with a man walking along the track behind it
Two young men sitting at a folding wooden table on camp chairs inside the newly furnished tent
Four young men beside the finished tent on its platform, with the soccer field goalposts visible behind them
Wide view of the dome tent on its platform in the clearing, with the tree line and fence behind
Inside the furnished tent: two made-up mattresses with pillows and an electric fan beside a mesh window looking out onto grass
The tent's living area with two folding canvas chairs and a slatted wooden table, the sleeping compartment with mattresses and a fan open behind
